Hello July

Camping 2019

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”

-Helen Keller

So we have already taken several camping trips this year but I really did not have the idea to start writing about them or any of other travels until my husband said he wanted to start a vlog. So here it is July and the writing begins. Don’t worry it just means I will have plenty to share later in the year.

Seems like to start I should introduce our little camper to you. I will remind my hubby that he is going to need to make me a video tour of the camper at some point. For several years we camped in a few different pop-up campers. After two years of damage in winter months we purchased a much smaller travel trailer last year. We have a Forest River R-pod. It is a 2018 Model 179. I can not even begin to tell you how much I love this camper. Last year all our trips were just Brian and I in the camper but this year have taken Bentley with us and it was still not too small.

The camper has the bed on one end and the kitchen area on the other. A bathroom and dinning/living area in the middle. Making the change from large camper to small has had a few challenges. Mostly figuring out storage. There is plenty of storage space. I just keep rearranging everything because I don’t feel like it is right yet. Plus I am a chronic over packer. I think I need to bring everything all the time. I can’t help it. I might need it for something right?

Some of the reasons I love this little camper include the beautiful blue color outside (it went away in 2019), The very comfortable sleeping area. I should say that this year we did upgrade the mattress. We spend a lot of nights in the camper the bed that come with it was fine but a little thinner than I like my mattress. Unlike many podders we still sleep in sleeping bags instead of a regular sheet set. I love the kitchen. So much counter space and storage area under it is huge. Now to be honest I do not do the cooking in our family Brian does. The fridge fits plenty of food but we do carry a cooler for drinks. I greatly enjoy the dining/sofa area as a nice indoor place to set. The air conditioner in the trailer works amazingly well.

The last thing on my love this with this camper is the way it tows. I mostly ride but sometimes drive but the truck never feels like it is working even climbing seems easy. I sometimes hated the feeling of the popup and the wind when being pasted by big trucks on highways that does not bother me now. It is just a nice easy ride now. This week we drove 5 hours to a camp using a mixture of highway and back country roads with no issues at all. I sometimes forget it is attached until I look in the mirror.

Happy camping friends.
